Since military prosecutors utilized tweets as circumstantial evidence against Chelsea Manning (then known as Pfc. Bradley Manning), at her court martial, tweets from that time period were included in the timeline.

During Manning's court martial, military prosecutors often waived oral arguments in public session. Moreover, the public was not granted contemporaneous access to court-filings at her trial proceedings. This timeline, therefore, acted as both a documentary and a research tool by its creator, Alexa O'Brien.
